After nearly four decades of working with families with struggling children, Kocurek conceptualized the SuccessPlans™ model as a proven method to increase parenting effectiveness. In addition to providing training and guidance to the professionals of SuccessPlans™ , Kocurek works collaboratively with parents by spearheading the development of SuccessPlans™ for their children. He facilitates Parent Workshops with practical applications that simplify parenting strategies. Kocurek also uses his extensive knowledge of the education process to function as an advocate for students in school settings. His experience is welcomed by schools as a vital member of a child's education team.
Kocurek holds a Master's degree in Education, specializing in Counseling and Guidance and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. He is an active member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and specializes in the educational consulting areas of Special Needs, Schools and Learning Disabilities. He is also a Licensed Child Care Administrator in the State of Texas.
Prior to his career with SuccessPlans™, Kocurek was the Chief Executive Officer of a subsidiary of the Brown Schools, Inc. In this role, he developed and operated a continuum of residential schools and treatment programs for adolescents and young adults. The program models included residential treatment centers, therapeutic boarding schools, young adult transition programs, home-based services, group homes and therapeutic wilderness programs. As the President and CEO of Therapeutic Expeditions, Inc., Kocurek operated an adventure-based treatment program for teenagers in Oregon. He has also worked in charter schools by providing administrative oversight to special education programs. As a consultant, Kocurek has assisted hundreds of students and families identify and select the best schools and programs for success. He is effective in coordinating the efforts of admission directors, educators, psychologists, and other professionals.
To keep pace with current educational trends, he continually travels across the United States to evaluate day boarding schools, emotional growth programs, programs for young adults and treatment programs. In addition to his role as parenting consultant, Kocurek provides consultation and training to the faculty of schools and programs throughout the United States. His extensive experience in program development and operations is a valuable resource to the development of effective schools and programs.
